AI Traffic
Human visits and conversions referred by AI answers, by source and landing page.
AI Crawlers → AI traffic reports the human side of AI search: visitors who clicked through to your site from an AI answer, which engine sent them, where they landed, and which of them converted. It is fed by the same install as crawler tracking (see Install AI Traffic tracking) and, optionally, by a read-only Google Analytics 4 connection.
Reading the report
- Header tiles: AI visits over the last 7 and 90 days, conversions, and your top source.
- Sources: visits per AI surface (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude, and others), each with an attribution-reliability note. Some surfaces strip referrers partly or entirely, so these counts are a measured floor, not a total: industry practice puts only roughly 30 to 40 percent of AI-influenced visits with usable attribution, and clicks from surfaces that strip referrers land in your analytics as direct traffic.
- Top pages: landing pages of AI-referred visits, shown next to how often AI answers cite those pages, so you can compare being cited with being clicked.
- Audience: devices and countries of AI-referred visitors.
- Conversions: same-session events attributed to the AI source that referred the visitor, once conversion events are configured.
Capture settings
At the bottom of the page:
- Ignored IPs: internal traffic (office ranges, staging) to exclude, as addresses or CIDR ranges.
- Conversion events: the event names your install is allowed to report, up to 10 lowercase names. Events not on the list are rejected. Your site reports an event with one line:
window.citlyze("event", "signup");The call is safe to make before the snippet has loaded; a queued stub pattern is shown on the install page.
Google Analytics and Search Console
The Google card on this page connects a GA4 property and a Search Console site with read-only access. Once connected, AI-source sessions from GA4 fill this report even for visitors your install cannot see, and Search Console data covers your queries in Google's AI features. You choose the property and site after a one-click Google sign-in; disconnecting removes the stored connection and the synced data. Details are in the install guide.
History and alerts
Referral history is kept for 30 days on Starter, 90 on Growth, and 400 on Pro and above. The AI referral spike and AI referral drop alert rules watch day-over-day movement; see Alerts.
Exporting
Referral data is available through the API: ai-referrals for visits and ai-referral-conversions for conversions.
