Ads in AI

Track sponsored placements in the AI answers on your prompts.

The Ads page shows the paid side of your tracked prompts: which advertisers buy placements in the AI answers to your questions, where those placements rank, and how paid presence compares with organic visibility. Coverage spans Google AI Mode and AI Overviews from your weekly tracking, plus consumer ChatGPT sponsored cards when the capture add-on is active.

Summary metrics

Four headline numbers describe the current measurement window, each with its change against the previous one:

  • Prompt ad rate is the share of tracked answers that carried at least one ad. Rates never mix surfaces: a surface with no ad capability never dilutes one that has ads.
  • Answers with ads counts ad-carrying answers against all answers.
  • Advertisers seen counts distinct advertiser domains.
  • Your ads counts placements matched to your own brand, so you can confirm your campaigns actually surface on the prompts you care about.

Advertiser leaderboard

Every advertiser observed on your prompts, ranked by placements. Each row shows prompt coverage, average and best position, ad share of voice (the share of ad-carrying answers featuring that advertiser), and the paid vs organic overlap.

Two details make the advertiser column trustworthy:

  • Ad click-throughs usually point at tracking links. Citlyze follows each redirect chain to the advertiser's canonical domain and caches the result, so the same advertiser is never split across tracking hosts.
  • Resolved domains are matched against your tracked competitors and detected brands. A matched advertiser shows its brand name under the domain, and your own brand is tagged so you recognize your placements.

The Also organic column joins each advertiser's ad-carrying answers against organic brand mentions in the same answer. High overlap means the advertiser defends questions it already wins; low overlap means it is buying presence where it has no organic foothold.

Prompts carrying ads

The prompt table scores ad pressure per tracked question: ad rate, the answers that carried ads, and which advertisers appeared. A competitor's ad landing on a prompt where you rank organically is the clearest signal that the question is worth money.

New-advertiser alerts

An alert rule of type "New advertiser on tracked prompts" fires the first time an advertiser domain appears in your ad observations, by email and through your Slack or Teams webhooks. Each advertiser debut alerts exactly once, and your own brand never triggers it. Scheduled reports include an ads section with the same weekly summary.

Your own campaigns

If you advertise on ChatGPT, connect your advertising account with a read-only API key on the Ads page. The key is verified with one read-only call, stored encrypted, and used for a daily sync of impressions, clicks, and spend, shown beside your organic visibility. Disconnecting deletes the key immediately; synced history stays. The connection only ever reads your own campaign data. It plays no part in detecting other advertisers.

Coverage

Google surfaces are included in your plan's weekly tracking from the Growth plan up. ChatGPT sponsored cards exist only in the consumer app, so capturing them shares the consumer-surface capture add-on with Shopping. Only placements that actually rendered are counted, and the coverage banner states exactly which surfaces the current window observed.
